"Flickstein is both a psychotherapist and a meditation teacher. His attractively designed workbook on insight meditation is a fine and seamless joining of those two traditions, following a metaphorical path called the Ten Oxherding Pictures (images that correspond to stages of self-knowledge) dating from the 12th century. His initial description of our psychological being ranges over a continuum from the extreme confusion of psychosis through the ordinary confusion of normality to the clarity and perfect mental well-being of enlightenment. Each chapter provides psychological description, meditation instruction, and workbook space for personal journaling and exercises as the reader follows this path. This is a book to do rather than simply to read, a book to work with slowly and intensely but also joyfully."—NAPRA ReView
